League 1A - The final countdown!

Going into the last weekend og the League competition it looks like the pre-season favourites Flying Dilla Dubstep are still favourites. Currently lying in third they have 6 games in hand on both of the teams above them, and are only 4 points behind current leaders AFC Rayleigh.

Saltwings FC have slipped to third, 4 points behind and same games played, so they may have to swettle for a play-off spot! SK Stradda & Vetterstorps BK being favourites to join them.

SK Stradda are currently sitting in fourth seven points above 5th although some teams below do have a game in hand. Vetterstorps BK are currently in 8th, five points of the play-offs, but 3 -6 games in hand on the teams above them.

Other candidates to enter the play-off fray are, Bluepepper, currently occuplying the last play-off place in 5th and FC Essen 08 who are 6th but have games in hand on Bluepepper and SK Stradda. FC Essen 08 do seem to have some management issues with their manager not being seen at any of their matches.

Other teams who may yet spring a surprise are Linden Village FC, Yeading Brook FC, and Terror Pigs.

Good Luck to all in the run in.

League 1A - Week 1 review

League 1A has had a very quiet first week, only 7 teams playing any matches, only 16 matches in total. So far Saltwings FC are top, with 3 wins and 3 draws from their matches. I don't believe that will be good enough to maintain top spot, especially as the pre-season favourites Flying Dilla Dubstep are one of the teams yet to play a match.

Three teams, Bluepepper, Linden Village FC, and Terror Pigs, are not looking good with no wins from any of their matches. Linden Village with 4 draws and 5 loses and a goal difference of -10 are looking like favourites for bottom spot at the moment!

AI dates start to kick off next weekend, so hopefully the week 2 review will be more exciting!

League 1A - Preview

The question on everyone's lips "Who is going to follow in the footsteps of Leigh Athletic?"

With Redhill Dawn and Black Samoro also gaining promotion to the Championship the early favourite to gain the automatic promotion spot is Gav Handly's Flying Dilla Dubstep.

This is their first season in the the Weekend Casual Association, having defected from the Morning Football Association. Runners up in the MFA Good Morning Premiership two season's running, as well as the MFA Coffee Cup the season before last, they certainly look to have the winning mentality required in the push for promotion. They are also a full 282 places high up the ranking table then their closest rivals, Vitterstorps BK.

Vitterstorps BK, Yeading Brook FC and AFC Rayleigh will be renewing their rivalry from last season, finishing 7th, 6th and 5th in the table last season they are now in reverse order in the world ranking, 443, 446 & 508th respectively.

The only other team in the division that is inside the world top 600 is another defector, SK Stadda who have defected to the Weekend Casual Association from the Casual Weekday Association, where they finished 9th in the CWA Casual Division 1B last season.

5 other teams are new to the division from last season; Terror Pigs, Saltwings FC and Dulwich are newly formed clubs. Reading united and FC Essen 08 last seasons relegated Championship sides.

WELCOME OVI AND JOHN

WCA League 1B Season Review

Living up to the promised drama, Weekend League One B went down to the wire with TC FC clinching the title on their last game. Congrats go to Thomas on a fine seasons performance.

The playoff places were equally tight, with Proper Team Selecta putting together a phenominal run at the end to grab the last playoff place from Cantswim Lifeguards. With Brandonia, Fredros BK and Wally and the Wing Backs taking the other places, it should be a close set of games to decide who goes up.

The hot shot of the year was never in doubt, with Marquinhos at TC FC averaging nearly a goal a game with 29 in 34 games.

Next up, the playoffs. With 2 teams on lengthy unbeaten runs, something gotta give...

Cheers,
Kevin

U21 League

The winners of the league were SK Bergen with the cup winners Dream Killers coming second.

The WCA has some of the best U21 teams in the GW with SK Bergen coming second in the youth world cup. If we keep this up we could be the best fa in the coming seasons. keep up the good work Torbjørn.

Good Luck to all for next year.
Cheers,
James

League Cup

This is the league cup which was won by Leeds United Football Club after beating Trafalgar United in the final. Leeds took an early 2-0 lead but this didnt stop Bill Atterby and his team fighting back to level it before the finish. Extra time was a little shakey with neither team wanting to lose it, which eventually took it to penalties. In the penalty shoot out Leeds United were formidable and didnt miss one, Which lead to the downfall of Trafalgar United who missed 2 penalties. Well done guys was a great finale. :D

Good luck for next season. Hope we get another entertaining final, like this one was!

U21 CUP

The under 21 cup was eventually won by Dream Killers after a 1-0 win over CaCato in the final congrats and commiserations all around. Keep training up those youngsters!

Good luck for next year everyone,

Cheers,
James
WCA Non-Prem Cup
Very close Semi-Final legs with one of them going through via penalties, And the other winning 5-3. Must have been some hard fought games. Well Played guys!

Congratulations to Gianluigi Salins - Black Samoro for winning the WCA Non-Prem Cup and unlucky Keval Patel and Liverpool FC (Not the correct spelling) theres always next year, that is if you havent made it to the prem :D

Weekend Casual Cup

2 close games yet again with a 3-1 and a 2-1 result. Well done for making the semis everyone however its still a good achievement and im sure you'll make it next time :).

A hotly contested final between Ddinas Caerdydd and TC FC. However Thomas Clare came out on top winning 3-2 in the end, in a great final. Unlucky Paul Blackmore always next year ;)

League 1 A season review

L1A Table Seasson 2

This is the Weekend league 1A table at the end of the season. As u can see Leigh Athletic won the league with Red Hill Dawn a close second. Well Done Guys.

Congratulations to those who got playoff spots, wish everyone the very best!, and also to Marcelo Zago who scored 11 goals in 23 games to win the golden boot.

Good luck all for next season,

Cheers,
James

League 1 C season 2 review

L1C season 2 final table

This is the final table for the season, as you can see ShiningCast ran away with the title, With a magnificent 103 points total in the end, which must be a WCA record! Shirts For Goalposts and Now Thats What I Call Magic coming second and third respectively. Well done also.

This week has also seen a burst of form from a certain tundra town finishing fifth.

Congratulations to the Superstar that is Robin Van Persie who claimed the golden boot after an amazing 28 goals this season, I think yet another record within this league.

Good Luck everyone for the coming season,

Cheers,
James
Weekend Premiership Standings

The Premiership like many of the other leagues within WCA came to a hotly contested finale this week, With Bill Trafalgar's - Trafalgar United taking the title. It went right down to the wire however with the top 3 teams only been seperated by 3 points thats just one win some teams missed out by. The whole league though was pretty close with all the way to 11th only being 18 points behind which is only 6 wins. Gotta say a BIG well done to Bill and everyone that played throughout this season. Well done lads and hope to see you back competing next season :).

Weekend Championship

Again a tightly looking contest but this time for 2nd place. As a team of Gary Breens look to have run away with it in the end. Finishing 14 points infront of 2nd place. But the next four teams again seperated by a single win, and the table could have looked different. Congratulations to 1st,2nd and 3rd for getting automatic promotion and good luck to the rest of you in the play offs! :D

WCA League 1B Latest

Thanks for the intro James.

Going into the final day of matches, Weekend League One B is far too close to call.

By the end of tomorrow, the league could look completely different with TC FC, Fredros BK and Wally and the Wing Backs all having a good shot at the automatic promotion place. With a big six pointer lined up tomorrow for the latter 2, it should be an interesting close to the season.

The playoff positions are also hotly contested, with Cantswim Lifeguards expected to use their games in hand to move up into a decent position. With Brandonia in great form, they will be a difficult team to handle in the playoffs.

Good luck all.
